Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Olivia Douglas was sitting in the passenger seat of her mother's SUV when the unthinkable happened on their way home from church on Easter Sunday.
The teen was with her mother and little brother, driving down Highway 167 near South 180th when they suddenly heard pops.
"I heard the bangs, and I didn't know what it was. And then there was three bangs and the fourth bang came through the window and hit me," she said. "I thought it was a rock for a while."
The pops were bullets. One hit the SUV's grill. The other shattered the car's windshield, went through the teen's cheek and out the back of her ear.
Moments after it happened, her mother tried to calm her fears.
"I said, 'I love you. You're still talking. I don't care if you don't have an ear. You're talking to me and you're alive. So whatever happened, I'm still grateful,"' said her mother, Kaschena Douglas.
The teen victim said she's relived the moment dozens of times since, though a part of her remains frozen in disbelief.
"I have to convince myself, 'Wow, I got shot,"' she said.
Police have not made an arrest in the case. They didn't find any shell casings, and they don't have much to go on.
"We've received a few tips but unfortunately, nothing that leads us to the person the person who committed this crime," said Renton police spokesperson Terri Vickers.
The teen hopes someone saw something that could help investigators.
"I'd like them to tell the cops, because people shouldn't be able to get away with this," she said.
The victim is thankful to be alive and thinks divine intervention saved her life.
"Apparently God has some sort of plan for me, because I am still here," she said.
While she recovers, police urge anyone with information on the shooting to contact Renton police immediately.
